Fee-for-Service Advantages

Many people do not understand what is means to have counseling services (mental health services).  To have counseling services covered under insurance, you have to have a mental health diagnosis.  Once you have a mental health diagnosis, this becomes a part of your permanent health care record.  This leads to limitations you may not understand, such as denial for life insurance.  Additionally, since you have a mental health diagnosis, the insurance company has to know a lot of information about you to be covered.  Many people through the insurance company will see your diagnosis, treatment plan and case notes with much detailed information about you and your family.  I choose to provide fee-for-service to clients.

Insurance

I do not accept insurance and require payment for sessions at the time of service.   However, your payment maybe reimbursed through Out-of-Network benefits, a Medical Flex Spending account or a Health Savings Account.  It is the individual’s responsibility to check with their insurance provider to verify out-of-network coverage prior to the start of therapy, if attempting for reimbursement.  Some insurance companies will reimburse services of a Licensed Associate Marriage & Family Therapist (LAMFT), some may not. A receipt can be provided to you to submit to your insurance with appropriate DSM diagnosis codes, if requested.  If you choose to go through insurance and still do not want to use fee-for-service, I would be happy to recommend a counseling service that would work for you.  I want to make sure you are happy with the services that you receive.

I accept credit cards (VISA, Mastercard & Discover), checks, money orders or cash at the beginning of each session.          

 


Sliding Fee

I do understand that it can be difficult to pay fee-for-service for counseling.  I have a sliding fee scale that is based on your income.  We can discuss this fee scale when you come in for your first session or free 30-minute consultation.
