Kerry McIntyre-Lee

Bridging Hope Counseling is pleased to have Kerry McIntyre working with us as an intern. She will be working with us until August, 2010 and is available to see individuals, couples, and families for the reduced rate of $25 an hour. She is available Mondays for daytime and evening appointments, Tuesday mornings, and Thursday afternoons. To set up an appointment with Kerry, please contact us at 763.291.5505.

Kerry is a graduate student at St. Mary's University of Minnesota, pursuing a Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus in 1999, Kerry spent several years in the development/fundraising field. She is in her second and final year of the Masters program at St. Mary's and will be graduating in the fall of 2010.

Kerry enjoys working with diverse populations, particularly couples and adolescents. Her professional interests include treating depression and anxiety disorders, sex and intimacy issues in couples, parenting concerns and financial issues affecting couples and families. A systemic thinker, Kerry believes in approaching clients' situations within the context of their environment.

Kerry's work is guided by the philosophy that within every individual exists the capacity to overcome whatever obstacles they may face. She focuses on helping clients identify those strengths and capabilities in order to overcome their personal hurdles. Kerry works to foster an environment of comfort and collaboration for her clients.

Sandra Woolsey, MA, LPCC

Bridging Hope Counseling is pleased to also have Sandra Woolsey working as an intern.  She will be with us from starting June 2010.

Currently an intern, I am close to completing the Marriage and Family Therapy Certificate Program at St. Mary’s University.  I completed the Masters in Counseling and Psychological Services at St. Mary’s University and my undergraduate degree in psychology from St. Catherine University (formerly known as the College of St. Catherine).

I have previous experience providing counseling for over 10 years. I have worked with pregnant and parenting adolescents; women’s and children’s domestic violence groups; teen groups; in-school youth skills groups; depression, anxiety and mood disorders; and psychosis. I have particular experience working as a therapist in residential treatment with youth and families struggling with attachment disorders and complex trauma.

My focus as a counselor is to provide respectful, quality therapeutic services to help promote the health and well-being of individuals, couples and families. I work from mainly a systems approach (meaning the way we think and behave are influenced by our families and surroundings) but I use a variety of techniques and approaches depending on the needs and learning style of you, the client. I enjoy bringing art, play and multisensory techniques into therapy, but I am also fond of talk therapy as well. I enjoy working with both youth and adults and appreciate and respect the vulnerability that can come with exploring life stressors.
