I have spent many years working with adolescents and their families as a high school English teacher. I genuinely enjoy working with this population and am able to build rapport with adolescents, working through the surface attitude to make an authentic connection. Working with both the adolescent and their families encourages positive communication, cohesiveness and mutual respect between family members. Adolescence can be a tough time full of shifting roles, expectations and responsibilities. However, I work with the family to continue to strengthen their foundation and ease this transition.

I also enjoy working with couples, particularly regarding communication issues. Clients can learn basic skills to improve communication and strengthen their intimate relationships. I believe couples can re-establish that “spark”, share a vision of a connected future and feel both valued and validated by their partners. I am particularly comfortable working with issues of trust, infidelity, anger and betrayal. Most of us have a deep desire to just be heard. Couples’ therapy creates the opportunity for this to happen as the intimate relationship evolves and grows.

I am currently pursuing my Minnesota Marriage and Family Therapy License. I received a BA in English Literature and Secondary Education from Nazareth College in Rochester, NY and my MS in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. I also served in the US Air Force, have experience working with sexual assault victims and have volunteered at a crisis hotline for the last several years. I am trained in a variety of theoretical approaches and adept at working with the clients to meet their needs while fostering personal growth and development.

I am also a family mediator, parenting consultant and parenting time expeditor.  For more information about these services, please go to www.mediationdialogues.com.
